Muslim women rally at the Women's March in Chicago

It’s been a few weeks, but I’m still buzzing from the Women’s March on Chicago on January 21. The rally and march were held in solidarity with the Women’s March on Washington  with the goal of highlighting women’s rights and related issues.

The event was initially expected to draw 22,000 attendees, but an estimated 250,000 people showed up to demonstrate in Chicago’s Loop! This was one of the biggest marches outside of Washington, so big that the actual march had to be cancelled due to the size of the crowd. After the rally, invigorated attendees marched on anyways.

It was a thrilling experience to be surrounded by so many women and men of various ages and ethnicities united by the same positive, progressive values. One person with a camera in the midst of a swelling throng, I did my best to snap a few photos capturing the energy of that day.

I’m honored to have these photos featured by my friends at WIREHOUSE CO.  This month, the Wirehouse Daily blog will showcase photos from four different women’s marches across the country. Check out a week’s worth of my photos from the march and stay tuned for more Women’s March photos from across the country.
