Live Review: JEFF the Brotherhood at Subterranean 4/3

From the opening chord off Jake Orrall’s signature three-string guitar, it was clear JEFF the Brotherhood’s audience was under a spell. Fitting, considering the garage rocking brothers Orrall stopped by Subterranean in support of last year’s Hypnotic Nights. The crowd christened the uninitiated with a few kicks to the skull from overhead crowd surfing acrobatics and a PBR spray baptism. Jake and Jamin played with stoic fury as the possessed mosh pit threatened the structural integrity of Subt’s floorboards. “We’re gonna leave and go to sleep,” Jake announced before launching into an abbreviated encore. After ripping through a set that spanned all of the band’s seven albums, JEFF the Brotherhood certainly earned a night’s rest.
